The Frangi Premium series, designed by Tiger Pan, Jie Dai, Yahui Wang, and Yuxuan He, is a skincare line that includes lotion, mask, eye essence, and cream. The design team drew inspiration from the iris, using it as the branding symbol and incorporating it into each product's packaging. The iris is not only represented in the logo but is also solidly shaped in a frosted acrylic cap, giving the product a unique and sophisticated appearance.
The design team aimed to create a product that tells its own story. They achieved this through the use of vertical stripes that imitate plant stems, signifying the absorption of water, which is a key function of skincare products. This simple pattern naturally presents the product's function to consumers. The refraction of lights on the packages further enhances the product's appeal, helping the Frangi series outshine its competitors with its graceful glamour.
The Frangi Premium series is not just about aesthetics; it also focuses on improving packaging quality and user experience without incurring extra transportation and production costs. The design team used different materials, including frosted acrylic, matte glass, and PE, to pack different products, giving the series a vivid and unified appearance. The details, such as the spoon for the facial cream and the massaging cap of the eye serum, are shaped based on the iris flowers, further enhancing the product's quality.
The design process, which took place over three months in Shenzhen and was produced in Shanghai, was not without its challenges. The design team had to find a way to convey the brand's high-class sense and the products' function of restoration and moisturization with the simplest graphic design. They also had to balance the general character and individuality between the five different products in the series. However, they successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a product line that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
The Frangi Premium series is a testament to the power of good packaging. It shows that with a simple yet effective design, a product can stand out from its competitors, tell its own story, and provide a quality consumption experience. It is no wonder that this design was awarded Silver in the A' Packaging Design Award in 2020, a prestigious award given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
